Environmentally responsible development is central tenet of the Carvel Property Development.
- Over 70% of the Project site (nearly 1,700 acres) will be protected as permanently conserved open space. Open space flows contiguously through the project site, connects with the Lafayetteville State Multiple Use Area, and will provide substantial buffers for sensitive natural areas such as Ham Brook, wetlands and amphibian breeding pools.
- Water quality will be protected through a compact development pattern, lot clustering, avoidance and substantial buffering of site wetlands and streams, development of and connection to community water and sewer systems, and application of appropriate rural road standards and integrated stormwater management design standards.
- The site’s timber resources will be managed in accordance with a long-term forest management plan.
- Lots are sited far back from Route 199, thereby maintaining the rural and scenic quality of the Route 199 travel corridor throughout the site.
- Homes will be built in a manner that is energy efficient and environmentally responsible in accordance with the Project’s Green Building Design Guidelines.
